Shake Shingles!

I'm finally feeling a little better--actually, a lot better! I went to a different doctor last Saturday and she was shocked that my PCP did not put me on an anti-viral medication. Since I started taking the medicine I have been improving daily. The blister's are still there, but diminishing somewhat; at least they haven't multiplied. The pain that settles in the nerve endings is not nearly as intense, just occasionally, I get a sharp pain. It's mostly, a constant tingling that I feel, may stay with me for quite some time. Doris--how long did you have the pain and tingling? How long ago did you have the shingles? You had them twice--double ouch!

One good thing about being sick, I've missed some meetings at school. Franklin is great, but there's so much being thrown at us; too much too soon! We need time to breath after the exhausting move and time to settle in with a new environment.

Take time to smell the coffee...

I was really lucky, Debbie. Rhonda and I figured out what it was when the pain started, and I went to the doctor and immediately got on the anti-viral meds. So all I had was a little rash ... no blisters! Your PCP should be beaten with a stick. Anyway, the scalding and tingling feeling lasted about 3 weeks. The second time, I knew what it was right away, got the meds and never broke out. Then it was only painful for about 10 days. Good luck, girl! Call me if you need a medicinal dose of Cosmo.

Debbie-I am so sorry that you have had to start off the school year with shingles. That is just enough to send anyone overboard. Take care of you. You're in my prayers,
Ellen

Glad things are on the up for you. Indeed, missing all the meetings is the good part. I literally feel like I am drowning. I thought it was just me being back in the classroom, all new, etc...everyone around me is saying the same thing. RIGOR for sure...I don't mind this at all, we all want to do the best we can for the kids. That being said, I hope we see a raise this next year....isn't it interesting that when we started bargaining we were clearly told there was NO money, and we ended up with nothing yet guess who got a 2.5% raise? Our administration. What is wrong with this picture? I am feeling like a peasant in the days of yore....working hard for nothing to please the kings and queens.

Isn't PCP a hallucinogen?
