Playing Catch Up!

Last week was the end of my 2nd week of school (your 4th). It seems like I can't get caught up and stay on top of all the tasks I have to do; monthly newsletter, update web page, organize reading groups, plan for writing, figure out what the @#!% I'm doing with H.M. (phonics/PA), and the list goes on and on! Would you believe last Friday I unpacked another box of books and labeled quite a few book tubs? I managed to leave around 6:20. I'm happy to say that I wasn't the last one out of the building! Sound familiar, Sue and Ellen? So much for taking care of myself as in exercising. Well...I guess I needed to vent! I hope everyone is well and has a good week at school. I sure do miss seeing my friends at Ames, but know that you're in my thoughts and in my heart!

Glad you are back Debbie and I am sure your kids are happy to have their teacher! I have felt a few times like I am either drowning or on the verge of a heart attack (figuratively speaking). I am usually in my room by 7AM and not out the door until PM--BUT! This is the norm for my teammates as well...and everyone I am working with is saying the same things...overloaded, not enough time, rush rush rush, not time to talk to colleagues and adequately plan...I know it is not much consolation to you...but don't beat yourself up for being behind--glad you are getting well. I like my job, my school, and even the kids (who are just about the most challenging group I have ever encountered within 4 walls). It will get easier and better.--Deb

I miss you so much, and hope that you are settling in. It takes a few weeks, and since you were gone for a couple of those, it's only natural that you feel behind. Also, just remember how important you are in those kids' lives...You are there for them, even if you feel like you don't have the best laid plans...Take care, Paige
